Neutron decay spectroscopy of neutron-rich oxygen isotopes

چکیده
Neutron decay spectroscopy of neutron-rich oxygen isotopes has been performed using the two-proton knock-out reaction 9Be(26Ne,X)24,23,22O. A combination of the knock-out of valence and core protons can explain the three observed spectra. These knock-out processes are selective and preferentially populate hole states. The observed narrow resonance state in 23O at an excitation energy of 2.8(1) MeV was assigned to the 5/2+ state. * Corresponding author. E-mail address: [email protected] (N. Identical Transitions in the Strongly Deformed 99 Sr and 100 Sr Typeset Using Revt E X 1
The decay of the very neutron-rich nucleus 100 Rb has been studied by γ-spectroscopy of on-line mass-separated samples. Schemes for β-decay to 100 Sr and βn-decay to 99 Sr are presented. New sets of transitions in 99 Sr and 100 Sr with identical energies are observed. All identical bands so far observed in neutron-rich Sr isotopes obey a simple energy rule valid for even-even, odd-even and odd-...
متن کاملFirst decay study of the very neutron - rich isotope 93 Br
The decay of the mass-separated, very neutron-rich isotope 93 Br has been studied by γ-spectroscopy. A level scheme of its daughter 93 Kr has been constructed. Level energies, γ-ray branching ratios and multipolarities suggest spins and parities which are in accord with a smooth systematics of the N = 57 isotones for Z ≤ 40, suggesting the N = 56 subshell closure still to be effective in Kr iso...
متن کاملEUROPEAN ORGANIZATION FOR NUCLEAR RESEARCH Addendum to the ISOLDE and Neutron Time-of-Flight Committee IS471: Collinear resonance ionization spectroscopy of rare francium isotopes
We propose to study the neutron-deficient (201−206Fr) and neutron-rich (218,219,229−232Fr) francium isotopes with high-resolution collinear resonance ionization spectroscopy. Extraction of the quadrupole moments will provide information on the nature of the deformation in the neutron-deficient nuclei and the octupole deformation suggested in the neutron-rich nuclei. The presence of the decay sp...
متن کاملModes of decay in neutron-rich nuclei
We calculate the ground, first intrinsic excited states and density distribution for neutron-rich thorium and uranium isotopes, within the framework of relativistic mean field(RMF) approach using axially deformed basis. The total nucleon densities are calculated, from which the cluster-structures inside the parent nuclei are determined. The possible modes of decay, like α-decay and β -decay are...
متن کاملExploring Neutron-Rich Oxygen Isotopes with MoNA
The Modular Neutron Array (MoNA) was used in conjunction with a large-gap dipole magnet (Sweeper) to measure neutron-unbound states in oxygen isotopes close to the neutron dripline. While no excited states were observed in 24O, a resonance at 45(2) keV above the neutron separation energy was observed in 23O.
